Surviving Eugenics is released

2015. The documentary, Surviving Eugenics is finalized by the Living Archives on Eugenics in Western Canada. The documentary was directed by Jordan Miller, Nicola Fairbrother, and Robert A. Wilson of the Living Archives project, and made primarily for school and university use. It features eugenic survivors Leilani Muir, Judy Lytton, Glenn G. Sinclair, Ken Nelson, Roy Skoreyko, and input from Jon Faulds LLB, Sandra Anderson LLB, Allan Garber LLB, Robert A. Wilson Ph.D., Lesley Cormack Ph.D., and the Right-Honourable David King.

The documentary focuses on the history and ongoing effects of eugenics within Canada. It features narratives of survivors and their experiences with eugenics, as well as expert testimony from those involved in a landmark legal case won by Leilani Muir in 1996 against the province of Alberta, for wrongful sterilization and confinement at the Provincial Training School in Red Deer.

Surviving Eugenics is distributed by Moving Images Distribution in Vancouver, and is available with a free discussion guide (in French and in English), and with subtitling in six languages: French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and simplified Chinese.
