Alberta renames "Insanity Act" to "Mental Diseases Act"

Alberta renames "Insanity Act" to "Mental Diseases Act"

1924. The "Insanity Act" of 1907 in the province of Alberta, Canada is renamed the "Mental Diseases Act". The words "insane" and "insanity" are essentially wiped out of mental health legislation. In this act, the words "detained as insane" are replaced by "detained in a hospital"; the words "asylum for the insane", "insane asylum", and "asylum" are replaced by "hospital".

This is an amendment from the original 1907 Insanity Act.
