North Dakota repeals its sterilization law

1965 After a 1961 version of the law removed epileptics from the list of individuals who could be sterilized in the state, North Dakota repealed its sterilization law entirely in 1965. At that point 1,049 individuals had been sterilized—62% of them women—ranking North Dakota 12th in comparison to other states that have sterilization data.
